About Event

THE KURUKSHETRA CHESS TOURNAMENT: The 2-Day Chess tournament will be conducted by an Official Chess Association on Saturday, February 1st AND Sunday, February 2nd on our campus. This is the ONLY Kurukshetra Tournament which is open to non-college participants. The salient features of the tournament are: 1) There is only 1 category - OPEN CATEGORY (no age factor involved at all). 2) The entry fee is Rs. 300. 3) The Tournament is a 9-round Tournament (Swiss League System) spread across 2 days. 4) FIDE Rules and Regulations apply. 5) The duration of each round will be 1-hour. 6) The first 5 rounds will go on from 09:00 AM - 6:00 PM on Saturday, February 1st. 7) The next 4 rounds will go on from 09:00 AM - 4:30 PM on Sunday, February 2nd. 8) The Prize Distribution Ceremony will happen on Sunday evening, along with a Special Band Event. 9) Players who possess chess clocks are requested to bring one with them if possible. 10) For those who wish to record games on paper, we will provide Score Sheets. However, kindly bring your own pens/pencils for the same. II Place wins a Trophy and prize money of around Rs. 9,000+. III Place wins a Trophy and prize money of around Rs. 6,000+. 10 Consolation Awards of around Rs. 1,000+ each. Please note: 1) Prize money is subject to increase according to the number of entries we get (The above amounts are w.r.t. 70-80 entries) 2) We are expecting more than 100 entries this year, in which case, (for example) 1st Place would win Rs. 20,000+. 3) The maximum number of entries we will accommodate this year is 150, and these will be on first-come-first-served basis.
